Research Proposals

The Human Proteomics Program encourages submission of proposals from Medical School researchers with an interest in applying mass spectrometry or bioinformatics to their specific research projects. Proposals will be reviewed in a timely manner by the Program’s operations committee and Advisory Board. Proposals that pass review will be subsidized in part by the core facility to obtain data for publication or grant applications. Continued long term support from the Program will be dependent upon obtaining collaborative grant funding.

Consultation

Program staff are available for consultation with investigators for preliminary evaluation of potential projects, and assistance with writing grants and publications that involve proteomics and mass spectrometry.

Training opportunities

The Program particularly encourages graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to incorporate proteomics approaches and tools in their research projects. Staff will provide training and guidance to researchers in research training positions with appropriate background in chemistry/biochemistry.

Charge back arrangements

IInvestigators who wish to by-pass the review process will be accepted on a case-by-case basis and will be charged an hourly rate for use of the facility.

How to Submit a Research Proposal:
  1. Prepare a two-page description of the specific research problem, relevant methodology and the need for mass spectrometry.
  2. Summarize goals (e.g. research, publication, grants), personnel willing and able to participate, and current funding.
  3. Contact Dr. Ying Ge to start the process.
